MY FOOT HURTS...

RECENTLY I bought a pair of shoes, very beautiful and attractive. It was just my perfect fit(or so I thought).I bought it at a time when I really needed to change my work shoe. I knew very well hat this shoe was too flashy for my type of job but it was just so beautiful .I managed my work shoe and decided to groove my new pair to other important occasions. The first day I wore them, I was happy and confident but guess what, my feet were weeping I didnt know when I started limping.

FOOT CARE is a very important part of our health. It becomes more important when there's a trace of diabetes mellitus (DM) in ones family or if one has been diagnosed of it. Common symptoms of DM include the 3P's; polyuria(frequent urination e.g more than 3 times at night), polydypsia(excessive intake of water usually due to the fluid loss from frequent urination) and polyphagia.(excessive and frequent food intake without weight gain).
BACK to my shoe, I wore it again and my small toe became sore. I started peeling off crust from my small toe. It opened into a wound and 'person no tell me before I keep fine shoe for corner'. While I was growing up,a lot of my peers had wounds from their knees down(if you be kako you can relate better I guess). What this implies is that foot care should begin from our childhood days. While a lot of us have black spots underneath our feet some others can boast of a spot/wound free feet.
SOME important steps we can learn and teach out young ones include;
- FOOT WEAR; not tight (no go wear over size oo),well fitting and comfortable. For ladies, don't do heels that are impossible!! Buy good ones for your kids too.
- SWEATY FEET; if you have a sweaty feet like myself, wear open-toe shoes or sandal. Some occasions may require covered shoes but don't wear them for too long.
- FALLS;  prevent this as much as possible and protect your kids. Make sure your environment is safe and clean.
-BLOOD SUGAR; sweethearts go do the test OK. It doesn't cost much and may give you a clue as to how careful you need to be.
- GOOD FOOD AND CHECKUPS; very important for quick healing and early detection of any abnormalities.

Family Planning

FAMILY planning is a way of thinking or living adopted voluntarily based on knowledge, attitude and responsible decisions by individuals and couples in order to promote the health and welfare of the family group and thus contribute effectively to the development of a country. Raising a child requires sufficient amount of resources; time, social, financial and environmental. Planning can help assure that these resources are available whenever pregnancy is wanted.
I think family planning begins at puberty (yea na so I talk am oo)! All of those things we were taught about male and female hormones and physical changes make up the process. Family planning involves our thought patterns which is affected by what we learn to be good or bad. This is why sex education is very important. About 16million girls aged 15-19 and some 1million girls under 15 give birth every year most in low- and middle- income countries. My point here is a this, sex education is a vital part of family planning. Enlightening teenagers about a positive sexual life is the foundation for planning a family. Its not just about the number of kids one should have and how they should be spaced. Its about our thoughts and attitudes and how it affects the family we raise. So if we get our teens and young persons to think right about the family unit, we've actually got them planning. If we can help them develop the right attitude about their sexuality and reproduction, we are securing their future and they would think about family planning in a good light.
SO it's not just about the devices and natural methods we teach individuals and couples, it has to do with listening to our children at home and in school and grooming them to think positively. So what happens to the about 17 million underaged girls with unplanned issues?
LIFE is so beautiful. Even though there are challenges to be won, every ovum is expectant and hopeful that it will someday become a foetus after a fusion with the other gamete. Reproduction is very beautiful. It is however painful that a lot of persons go through series of troubles in the process of having a child of their own. While some are trouping into our hospitals to learn about the available family planning methods, others would want to gain more knowledge concerning IVF.
They need;
Our support
Sex education and family planning
Counselling encouragement and prayers
Cases of sexual abuse needs to be addressed also
IN conclusion, whenever I get the opportunity to speak with young girls my age and adolescents, whether victims unwanted pregnancy or not, I let them know that they are the Lord's vessels and should stay pure for his use.

Cleanliness is an attitude!

CLEANLINESS is next to godliness-everybody knows that right?
Sometimes cleanliness becomes a responsibility or even a challenge.
Apart from personal cleanliness, our environment needs good attention.
The truth is that the way handle our immediate environment reflects
the status of our personal welbeing.
WHEN I was a kid there was this co-orperation that existed in the
yard where i grew up such that on sanitation days, everyone especially men, is ready and available to keep the yard and drainage clean. I
have lived in a place where it is no man's business wether today is
sanitation or not. Na who body sweet pass go clear the gutter!!
THERE are many benefits of ensuring that our environments are neat;
-It reduces exposure to diseases.
-It reduces bad odour and ensures good ventilation.
-It tells good of you as an occupant of a house or compound.
-It also means that you can go ahead to invite some friends for a
hangout at your place with all confidence!
SO cleanliness is truely an attitude--if no body fit do am,make body
sweet you well well to do am!!!

How to control excessive flatulence

SO what if I farted at the MD's office?
WHattttt? Did I just hear you say that?
I don't think anyone would deny ever having a bad GIT day when it
becomes literally impossible to hold back a fart. As funny or
embarrassing as it may be,it does happen. There was this one time i had the experience and it was so bad I thought I was sick. But oh no I
was'nt sick,I just had to go back to the drawing board; what i ate and
how often i opened my bowel.
ONE thing i hate the most is the stink that accompanies the fart,it
can be so bad that you may want to choke at your own fart, now think of
the person right beside you(Ahhhhhh! Lol). Another embarrassing thing
about a bad GIT day is when you have this important appointment to
keep or when you are alone whit just one person(definitely the person
go catch you na! Lol). Back then in primary school,if na you mess,na
you go first ring the alarm in order to avoid suspicion ooo!
WELL, the major thing is that it is very embarrassing if you eat
proteinous foods, don't go to toilet for 2-3 days and you just can't
help but pass wind(s).
FLATULENCE,the medical term for fart, can be caused by swallowing too
much air, eating foods that do not digest easily or an underlying GIT
condition like irritable bowel syndrome. A man will naturally fart
between 14-25 times a day and a woman 7-12 times per day. If you pass  wind more frequently than this wahala dey!!  Especially wen you chop beans...
I have learnt something that can really help;
-Drink plenty of water;it helps to prevent constipation and also aids
in digestion thereby reducing excessive flatulence.
-If you frequently swallow more air you may find that you suffer from
excessive flatulence. You may swallow more air than normal if you chew
gum frequently, smoke or suck on objects, drink carbonated drinks or
swallow food whole instead of chewing.
-I like food alot so i won't tell you to avoid any particular food, but
if you have an important meeting or occasion don't eat foods like
beans, cabbage, egg or apples before the appointment, instead take foods
like rice, bananas and potatoes because they digest easily.
-Please visit the toilet at least once daily. This is very important
if you must go out trust me you don't want to be standing there
presenting that wonderful proposal/idea and 'the wind' comes suddenly
to blow your boss off his feet. No wonder my people dey call am 'mess.'
-IF you suffer any other symptom alongside flatulence please there may  be an underlying GIT problem, visit a heath facility early enough.

How to prevent kidney failure

How often do you urinate in a day? Do you feel an unusual urge to
urinate or you probably allow your bladder to become so full that you
feel extremely pressed before you 'off-load'?
These are some of the questions that doctors usually ask when they
assess your urinary system. Sometimes we find ourselves in places and
situations that forces us to keep 'urine banks' until we can no longer
bear the urge to let go.
Today we are talking about a very serious issue. It has to do with our
kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, these organs make up the urinary
system. The urinary system is highly functional in the removal of
waste products from the body. If these wastes remain in our
bodies, there would be a huge problem. There are two kidneys in the
human body, each located on either side of the vertebral column. The
kidneys are designed in such a way that a person can survive with just
one functional kidney. What if both kidneys fail?
The kidneys connect with the bladder through tubes called the
ureters. The ureter from each kidney enters the bladder from behind
and urine formed in the kidney passes into it and is stored. When the
bladder(which is sort of elastic) reaches it's maximum capacity, the
high pressure within it causes the ureter to open allowing urine to
flow to the exterior. In females, the ureter is short and it's opening
is just in front of the vagina opening while in males it opens into
the penis.
So you see,all the organs in the urinary system are very well
connected. If one of these organs are affected in one way or another
by infection or is blocked, the other organs may also develop issues.
Since some of the things we do expose us to problems like
pyelonephritis, cystitis and even kidney failure, making adjustments
would go a long way to help us stay healthy.
THESE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS WE CAN DO;
-DRINK ENOUGH WATER; It helps flush off wates from the body. So it's
bad when you don't take good water. Up to 8 glasses a day is advised.
-LET GO OF THE 'URINE BANK'; Whenever yuo feel pressed, let it go
immediately. Allowing urine to stay in the bladder for long 5ices
micro organisms the room to cause infection.
-WIPE; Now this is for the ladies, after urinating please wipe from
front to back and not in the opposite direction. Wiping is one
important thing because it keeps the area dry, wiping from front to
back is another thing because it prevents possible entry of micro
organism from the anus to the vagina or urethra(also make sure you
wash your hands oh!).
-SEX; If you have just one partner who have you as an only partner,
it's safer for both your sexual and urinary functions, if you ever
have a urinary infection,it's easier to treat if you have one faithful
partner because you can both be examined and treated properly.
-REPORT; Immediately visit a health centre if you notice any of these symptoms:
.painful urination
.urinating more than 3 times at night such that your sleep is greatly
disturbed.
.immediate urge to urinate within very short intervals.
.a fever with lower abdominal pain.
These are early signals that there may be a problem. We should all try
our best to avoid urinary problems by practicing these easy tips.
There are lots more you can share with me!
