How to Handle Epistaxis ... (nose bleeding)

While kids play around or while adults have theIr 'big people' fight,a

nosebleed could result(maybe from a punch or a fall). A nosebleed could lead to serious blood loss or may resolve on it's own. If the blood clump together (clot) in the nostril, the victim may experience difficulty in breathing due to an obstructed airway and this is really BAD.
OK apart from being sick or being punched in the face, the tissues
that line the nostrils may become so dry, cracked and even start bleeding.
IF you have the habit of blowing your nose too hard or picking your nose often(especially during hamattan), you could experience a nosebleed.
BLood disorders can also lead to spontaneous bleeding from the nostril.
HOW TO HANDLE THE SITUATION;
-Sit down upright
-Ensure that there is adequate ventilation (make sure say fresh air dey blow well well).
-Start breathing through your mouth (if you breath from your nose, blood fit hook your throat- anoda bad tin o!).
-Put your head forward (no lie down oh).
-Dont pack your nostril (no try am put cotton wool 4 ur nose). Allow the blood to flow.
- Pinch the soft part of your nose whit your thomb and finger(make sure say u dey breath tru ur mouth oh,I no dey!)
-Check if the bleeding has stopped after 10mins.
-You can apply a cold compress(put ice block 4 inside handkerchief) on the bridge of your nose.
-If the bleeding doent stop for up to 20mins,go straight to the nearest health centre.
We can do our best to avoid unnecessary nosebleeds by blowing our noses gently,not picking our noses(na bad habit sef!), and during hamattan,a little water-soluble jelly(vaseline) can go a long way to prevent cracking.
